LAS VEGAS (the 16th of July, 2023) — The Main Event for Life was won by Canadian player Jason Clarke. Congratulations, Jason! The World Series of Poker made the announcement that Jason Clarke would be the first player to win “Main Event for Life” only minutes before the start of the final table of this year’s WSOP® Main Event®. In recognition of the fact that this year’s Main Event set a new benchmark as the biggest tournament in WSOP history, the organization chose Clarke at random from among 10,043 competitors to receive a special prize.
“I actually missed the first phone call about my win,” according to Clarke. “Despite the fact that I had my doubts, I decided to phone back, and much to my astonishment, I found out that I had won. I am overjoyed to have the chance to do this, and I am looking forward to seeing what the next 30 years have in store.
About the Actor Jason Clarke
Clarke spent her childhood in Brampton, which is located close to the city of Toronto and is where she was born. Although Clarke had always been interested in poker and had played informal games with friends from his boyhood, he did not start playing the game professionally until he was 25 years old. After 17 years and 15 events at the WSOP, he has finally clinched a spot in the Main Event for the rest of his life.
The next day, on July 5, he won a $19,500 Daily Deep Stack tournament, which paid for his $10,000 buy-in for the Main Event that he would be playing in for the first time. Clarke was knocked out of the Main Event before he had a chance to earn any money, but he has plans to capitalize on his guaranteed seat wins over the following thirty years by giving five percent of his winnings to a variety of philanthropic causes.
When he’s not competing, Clarke works as a real estate agent in Toronto and spends his free time rooting for the Buffalo Bills, the Toronto Raptors, and the Toronto Maple Leafs, three of his favorite professional sports teams. Fans are invited to follow Clarke on Instagram (@jasonclarke2021) as he begins his 30-year adventure with Main Event, as he will be posting updates there.
On Monday, July 17, the World Series of Poker (WSOP) will declare the 2023 champion as all eyes are on the Main Event Final Table from this year.
